These jackets were a Thea Porter signature and were introduced into her collections in 1975. The name 'Chazara' came form a type of butterfly and they were made in a multitude of fabrics and colors. Here we have a beautiful and deceptively simple version in an inky black silk velvet. Inside it is lined in a luxurious ivory silk satin. It is hip length with a long and lean cut. A Nuhru collar tops the hidden row of hook and eye that closes the front. In the book "Thea Porter; Bohemian Chic", author Laura McClaws Helms notes that these were inspired from 18th century military coats. Thea Porter pieces are becoming increasingly rare and this is a piece that you will wear for a lifetime. Excellent condition
